Emeriti Survey Results 2024
The UC Davis Emeriti/ae Association conducted the first ever survey of UCD emeriti/ae by UCDEA in the Winter/Spring/Summer of 2024. The survey was done in collaboration with the deans of each of the schools and colleges that had 10 emeriti/ae or more. The surveys were sent out from the offices of the respective deans, co-signed by UCDEA President Suad Joseph, and the co-chairs of the UCDEA Membership Committee – William David Wilson and Warren Pickett. In a number cases, the letter of invitation to complete the survey was also signed by emeriti/ae from that particular college/school.
An initial pilot was carried out with 4 schools/colleges: Schools of Law and Veterinary Medicine and the colleges of Letters and Sciences and Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The emeriti/ae of those four colleges/schools composed 60% of the 1,500 UCD emeriti/ae. There was a total of a 20% return on the surveys. Attached below are the results of the surveys college by college, school by school, as well as the overall results of the combined 9 colleges/schools surveyed.
The purpose of the survey was to identify the interests, issues, and on-going relationships of UCD emeriti/ae with their departments, their colleges/schools, and the university. We were particularly interested in knowing ways in which they like to continue to be engaged at these various levels and what concerns they had about their relationship with UC Davis, with UC Davis Emeriti/ae Association or its various units. We were also keen to encourage activities focusing specifically on emeriti/ae lead by the deans of the various colleges and schools. We continue our conversations with the deans about the results and encourage emeriti/ae to continue to reach out to us about events, volunteerism, or other interests relevant to UCD that they may have. We welcome your reaching out to any of our UCDEA officers, listed under the UCD Leadership tab.
