We invite nominations (including self-nominations) for the 2025 Charles E. Hess Founder’s Award.
Charles E. Hess, former Dean of the college of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, was one of the principal advocates of establishing the Retiree’s Center. His positive and thoughtful engagement at every step in the development of the Center is one reason for its success. In his honor, the Charles E. Hess Founder’s Award was established. This award provides a mechanism to recognize those retirees and emeritae/i who have made significant contributions and/or continue to support the active engagement of emeritae/i and retirees in the life of the University. The award is presented annually, honoring an emerita/us in odd years and a retiree in even years. In 2024-25, the award will be given to an emerita/us. The recipient will receive a plaque commemorating the award.
Please submit nominations, including a letter describing the nominee’s service to the emeriti/ae community, to Larry Thao at the Retiree Center (retireecenter@ucdavis.edu). Nominations are due December 15, 2024.
